Disappointment for Kent Spitfires in washed out Middlesex t20

Friday 24th June 2011

Men’s First Team

Middlesex 79-1 (8 overs) beat Kent 149-3 (20 overs) by 28 runs (D/L method)

Kent Spitfires made 149-3, with Joe Denly (81 not out) and Martin Van Jaarsveld (43) the top scorers, with an impressive unbroken partnership of 96.

Paul Stirling (51 not out) put in a thumping performance for Middlesex, with rain creating challenging bowling conditions for Kent. Middlesex were 79-1 after eight overs when rain eventually forced play to come to a close.

Poor weather conditions meant that it was not possible to resume the match and as a result Middlesex’s position at the time play was stopped was taken into consideration. This resulted in Middlesex achieving only their second win of the Friends Life t20 campaign with a 28 run win under the Duckworth-Lewis method.
