CEO Statement: 12/11/20

“Following the Prime Minister’s recent announcement that England will move into another national lockdown, we have been working through the implications for Kent Cricket and what the new restrictions will mean for the Club over the next month.

“Let me first restate that our priorities must continue to be on protecting the health and safety of all our staff and stakeholders as well as, at the same time, protecting the financial viability of the Club.

“We are continuing to work with ECB and DCMS on the implications of Lockdown 2.0 for cricket at all levels and also for the continued operation of all areas of our business. As you can imagine, we need to interpret and adapt to new guidelines at every level – from elite training, pathway, county age group to recreational cricket plus all the support services such as finance and ground care and our specialist St. Lawrence Clinic – which is quite a task.

“Clearly, the challenges presented by Coronavirus mean that we are not able carry on our usual activities over the winter period and this is continuing to place significant strain on the Club’s financial resources.

“Therefore, the non-playing staff at the Club will be operating for November on a maximum of a four day week, with Friday being the working day the vast majority of Kent Cricket office staff will be furloughed.  In the meantime, our St Lawrence Clinic team who have been providing their important healthcare services throughout the pandemic will continue to operate on a five-day-a-week basis.

“We will be doing our very best to ensure that the Club continues to provide our usual level of service even though Kent Cricket Office Staff will not be working on a Friday. Any enquiries sent to the Club via e-mail or through the Kent Cricket website on Fridays will be prioritised on as soon as possible the following Monday.”

“We of course continue to monitor the situation and issue any update of changes as we move into December.

“I would like to thank members, supporters and partners for their continued support and understanding as we navigate a path through this crisis.”

At 11:00 on Wednesday 11th November, Kent Cricket joined up with the 3rd Battalion, Princess of Wales’ Royal Regiment to pay respects to those from the Club and beyond that made the ultimate sacrifice.
