Kent prospects earn South East Stars Academy places

Six young Kent Women stars have been selected by the South East Stars Academy for 2022, the region’s top-tier cricket academy in the women’s game.

Darcey Carter, Sydney Gorham, Ryana MacDonald-Gay, Jemima Spence, Alexa Stonehouse and Megan Sturge, all of whom played a part in Kent Women’s double-winning season of 2021, will wear the yellow and blue of their region’s Academy in the coming season.

Both MacDonald-Gay & Stonehouse have already made first-team appearances for the Stars, and will look to push for senior selection alongside their other Kent teammates.

Jemima Spence was named Kent Women Emerging Player of the Year at the 2021 Spitfire Kent Cricket Awards after a bright start to her senior Kent career – the ‘keeper-batter made 66 on her Kent Women debut opening the batting alongside another 2022 Stars Academy selection, Megan Sturge, in what is regarded as the Club’s youngest ever senior opening partnership across both the Men’s and Women’s game.

Alexa Stonehouse was awarded with Kent Women’s Young Player of the Year Accolade after a bright season for the left-arm seamer.

Former Kent Women prospect, Indigo Gentry, has also been selected.
