Match Report: Kent Second XI vs. Middlesex Second XI

Kent Second XI lost their opening T20 South Group match by eight wickets against Middlesex at Polo Farm, Canterbury.

Batting first, Kent Seconds were bowled out for 111 runs, in 18.4 overs, with only two batters, former Academy student, Joe Gordon, and Alex Blake reaching double figures in the home sides innings.

Gordon scored 42, with five boundaries and two sixes, and Blake 27, also swiped two sixes. The Kent innings disintegrated against the bowling of Nathan Sowter 3 for 21 and Thilan Walallawita 3 for 32, as they failed to use up all their 20 overs.

Despite losing the early wicket of skipper Steve Eskinazi for 11, Middlesex Seconds knocked off their victory target, 115 for 2 in just 11.4 overs, Joe Cracknell 79 not out, with eight boundaries and four sixes. Nathan Fernandes was out for 19. Jas Singh 1 for 29, Marcus O’Riordan 1 for 23.

The rest of the Second Elevens T20 home fixtures are at the County Ground, Beckenham, with a double header on Friday, May 20 against local rivals Sussex.

The first match starts at 11:30 and the second at 15:00. Entry is free for Members and supporters.
