Denly on Cricket AM

THE sun is shining and the football is nearly over, so it can only mean one thing… Cricket AM is back!

That’s right folks; from now on in you can start your Saturdays by finding out just what is going on in the world of leather on willow.

Simon Thomas will be your host, as always, and this summer he is joined by Sarah-Jane Mee. Opening the batting this series are two of English cricket’s most explosive young talents.

Kent opener Joe Denly and Eoin Morgan of Middlesex will be first on the orange sofa to tell us about their start to the county season, look ahead to the ICC World Twenty20 and of course, how England are shaping up for the Ashes.
One England team who has already had a successful season are the Women and two of their World Cup-winning stars, Isa Guha and Claire Taylor, will be dropping in to show off the silverware they won down under in the spring.
They will also be asked to test their strength as we take revenge on Messrs Boon, Hughes, Chappell and co and all the other mustachioed Aussies who have been the scourge of English cricket over the years. Bash The Tash will give all our guests this series the chance to hit back – and show us who’s the strongest.

First up the show hunts down the game’s Ultimate Sportsman and two brave Lancashire players pit their talents against one another in football, golf and darts.

And replacing Mr & Mr will be Brain & Brawn, which sees one cricketer use the old grey matter to answer questions while his county colleague holds a 5kg weight to determine how long he gets. First up is an intrepid duo from Glamorgan.
Of course, the Ashes is never far away from any cricketing conversation and but forget England and Australia, Ponting and Pietersen, we will be staging the Real Ashes, where a noble Englishman and a fair dinkum Aussie will go head to head with bragging rights and national pride at stake – and not a cricket bat in sight.
