Charlotte Edwards in WBBL dream team as Scorchers lose semi

Kent captain Charlotte Edwards was named in the Women’s Big Bash League team of the tournament as her Perth Scorchers side bowed out in the semi-finals.

Edwards scored 444 at an average of 44.4 in the group stage as the Scorchers finished fourth on net run rate.

Perth fell just short in the final four, losing to Sydney Thunder by eight runs.

Thunder posted a target of 119 with skipper Alex Blackwell top-scoring with 39.

In reply, Scorchers found the going tough with Edwards managing 18 as wickets fell regularly.

Sydney Sixers, featuring Kent overseas player Kara Sutherland, made it a derby final with a Duckworth-Lewis win against Hobart Hurricanes at Melbourne.
