Sam Billings hits 89 for England Lions

Sam Billings top-scored for England Lions as they lost the series 3-2 against Pakistan A in Dubai.

His 89 from 101 balls included eight boundaries in tricky batting conditions at the ICC Academy.

The 24-year-old came to the crease at 39 for three alongside Kent colleague Daniel Bell-Drummond, who made 25 on his second start of the series.

Billings, who extended his Kent contract this week, added 106 for the fifth wicket with Hampshire’s Liam Dawson who hit 48 in a key partnership before the tourists were dismissed for 216.

In reply, Pakistan batted patiently until Tom Curran took two wickets in three balls of the 42nd over before tailenders held their nerve to secure a three-wicket win.
