About the Girls' Area Programme

  • Overview

The 2022/23 season was the inaugural year of a Girls Area Cricket Programme (GACP). It is an exciting time for Women & Girls’ cricket in Kent with more clubs and schools setting up girls’ cricket programmes each season and the first season of a Kent Women’s Premier League.

The GACP is vital in providing a higher standard of competition than school and junior club cricket, to challenge and enable development of talented players, helping to prepare them to compete for places in the County Age Group Squads.

The GACP is made up of three area hubs, East, West and Metropolitan. The squads have been selected from the county age group trials, which were held at the end of last season.  In year one there was an U11 and U13 squad for each area, and now in year two (2023-24) we have introduced an U15 age group.

Each area will have eight indoor training sessions, two outdoor training sessions or inter squad matches, and a competitive summer match programme.

  • Getting involved in Girls' Area Cricket

For the 2024/25 season GACP players are to be nominated via their club or school. There will be an area trial process in September and squads will be selected ready to start the winter training programme in November 2024.

We would welcome new contact from club and school teachers in each area. Whether you have noticed a 9-year-old with a ‘natural eye’ for the ball in a PE lesson or have an accomplished year 9 player then please get in touch with the Women’s & Girl’s Pathway Manager, Dave Smith.
