Memberships go on sale today for cricket fans to guarantee their ticket for Australia’s first match against Kent in 18 years.

Kent will host the opening game of Australia’s 2015 Ashes tour at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, Canterbury, from Thursday 25 June until Sunday 28 June.

Skipper Rob Key, played for England in the 2002-03 Ashes series in Australia and says it is the greatest rivalry in cricket and will be proud to host the tourists in a four-day match next summer.

The 35-year-old scored a half-century versus Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, said: “2015 is a massive summer for English cricket with the Ashes Series and hopefully Kent can play a part in it.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming the Aussies down to The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence and giving them a tough opening game.

“England v Australia is the biggest rivalry in the game and it will be a great occasion for the club. I hope Kent Supporters can turn out in force.”

Kent have played Australia 33 times with the last encounter in 1997 when the Aussies triumphed by six wickets on the way to retaining the Ashes urn.

Any remaining tickets for the match will not go on sale until March 2015 so the club is hoping Supporters can book early to avoid disappointment.
