Alfonso Thomas to join coaching staff for T20 Blast

Former Somerset paceman Alfonso Thomas will join the Kent coaching staff in the build-up to the NatWest T20 Blast.

The 40-year-old South African international, who retired from playing in 2015, has played county cricket and franchise T20 cricket in several countries during a 17-year professional career.

He will work as a consultant alongside head coach Matt Walker to help the Spitfires prepare for the tournament which starts on Sunday 9 July.

Walker said: “Alfonso brings a wealth of experience in the format from his playing days in England, Australia, Bangladesh, India and South Africa.

“He has played in big franchise tournaments and we hope he can share his knowledge about the specific demands of bowling in 20-over cricket.

“Alfonso will work alongside our experienced coaching staff including Min Patel and Mark Ealham who have represented club and country.”

The best way to guarantee a seat at each T20 match this summer is to buy a Six Pack for £110, a saving of £100 on gate prices with member benefits.

Adult T20 tickets cost from £22 and under 16s tickets cost £5 in advance. A limited number of T20 stand tickets are available while stocks last at www.kentcricketshop.co.uk
