Beaumont & Farrant impress in T20 warm-up

Kent captain Tammy Beaumont top-scored and county colleague Tash Farrant took two wickets as England warmed up for the IT20 tri-series by beating India A.

Beaumont hit eight fours and a six as she carried her bat as England posted 176-4 in Mumbai where the series against India and Australia will be played.

Skipper Heather Knight and Surrey opener Bryony Smith also passed 50 after the tourists won the toss.

In reply, Tash Farrant shared the new ball with World Cup Final heroine Anya Shrubsole (2/23) and each struck in their opening spell.

Kent Cricket Academy graduate Farrant struck twice in her third over to remove Vanitha and Pathan in a spell of 2/21 with fellow graduate Alice Davidson-Richards going wicketless in a two-over cameo.

Nat Sciver (2/26) and Dani Hazell (1/16) tied up the scoring and took key wickets to dismiss India A for 131 and wrap up a 45-run win.

They play again on Tuesday before the tri-series starts on Thursday with the hosts facing Australia in Mumbai before the two touring sides face off on Friday (4.30am GMT).
