Billings drafted to Lahore Qalandars ahead of Pakistan Super League

Kent Men’s Captain Sam Billings will be making his third foray into the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after being signed in the Replacement Draft to Lahore Qalandars, joining Kent teammate Jordan Cox in lime green.

The Qalandars, who had Joe Denly in their ranks in the 2021 edition of the tournament, added the right-hander to their squad that includes the likes of English county cricket’s Rashid Khan (Sussex Sharks, T20 only), Harry Brook (Yorkshire) & Liam Dawson (Hampshire) as well as Billings’ county teammate, Cox, who is available for only a part of the tournament.
The eighth edition of the PSL begins on 13 February with a match between defending champions Lahore & the 2021 champions, Multan Sultans. The tournament will end on 19 March, with both Billings & Cox expected back at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence after their involvement with the PSL to begin the English Summer with Kent, barring international call-ups.
Billings featured for Islamabad United in the 2016 & 2017 editions of the competition – the first two PSL tournaments.
Both Cox & Billings’ involvement in the PSL will not affect their availability for the county at the start of the season, with other Kentish interest at the tournament being former players: Qais Ahmad will play for Quetta Gladiators, Wayne Parnell at Multan Sultans & Jimmy Neesham is with Peshawar Zalmi.

This will be the third time the PSL will be held in Pakistan, with the competition being based in the UAE until 2021.
