Bowlers share wickets in Second XI Trophy win

Grant Stewart, Harry Podmore, Will Gidman and aspiring all-rounder Daniel Bell-Drummond each took two wickets as Kent defeated Glamorgan in the Second XI Trophy at Bromley.

After being invited to bat first by the visitors, several batsmen got starts with academy scholars past and present Ollie Robinson (35) and Kashif Ali (45) impressing.

Podmore’s cameo off 45 off 57 balls and Beckenham triallist Will MacVicar hit a superb unbeaten 74 to propel the hosts to 267 for six.

In reply, Podmore and new-ball partner Stewart each struck twice in their opening spell to reduce the visitors to 29-4 in the tenth over.

Playing as a specialist seamer to build up his bowling form, Bell-Drummond struck twice in two balls as Glamorgan slid to 62-6 before they rebuilt thanks to a stand of 67 between Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Cullen (37) and Cardiff-born spinner Prem Sisodiya (XXX*).

MacVicar broke the partnership before Gidman struck in successive overs as Kent sealed a 46-run win.
