Charlotte Edwards returns from spell as Western Fury skipper

Kent and England Women’s captain Charlotte Edwards has completed a three-month spell as skipper of Western Fury in Australia.

A young Fury side finished bottom of the Women’s National Cricket League with one win from six matches although the skipper top-scored with 243 runs at an average of 48.6.

In the seven-team Women’s Twenty20 table, Fury finished sixth with two wins from twelve games.

Edwards was second highest run-scorer in the competition with 413 runs at an average of 41.3 and strike rate of 110.13.

England colleague Heather Knight was the most prolific 20-over batsman, scoring 419 for fourth-placed Tasmanian Roar.

Both players are now preparing for England’s tour to New Zealand next month with the squad set to be announced next Monday (January 19).

Several of Kent Women's Cricket Team will hope to take on the White Ferns in an eight-match series.

The national side will play three ODIs on February 11, 13 and 15 at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, England’s second round of matches in the new ICC Women’s Championship.

The sides will then travel to Whangarei to play two T20Is at the Cobham Oval on February 19 and 20, before finishing the 26-day tour with the third T20I and two more ODIs on February 24, 26 and 28 at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln.

Australia take on Englandat The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrencein the only Women's Ashes Test Match as part of an extended Canterbury Week this summer.

Entry to the Women’s Ashes Kia Test on August 11-14 and Kent v Australia men on June 25-28 is included in Kent All Rounder and Championship Plus Memberships and is an option for Six Pack package holders.
