Broadstairs CC crowned Kent County Indoor Winners 2024

The Kent County Final for the ECB Club Indoor Competition took place at The Spitfire Ground on Sunday 4 February, with Broadstairs Cricket Club crowned winners for 2024.

The finalists were the top placed representatives of the Indoor Leagues from around Kent and as follows:

  • Pharon Canterbury League, Winner: University of Kent,
  • Pharon Canterbury League, Runner Up: Canterbury Christ Church University
  • University of Greenwich MET Indoor League, Winner: OD CUACO CC
  • University of Greenwich MET Indoor League, Runner Up: LESSA Christ Church CC
  • Thanet Indoor League, Winner: Broadstairs CC
  • Thanet Indoor League, Runner Up: Northdown CC
  • Folkestone Indoor League – Wingham CC
  • Sevenoaks Indoor League – Ightham CC

The Results For the day were as follows:

Quarter Final – CCCU 85/1 vs Wingham 86/2 – Wingham won by 4 wks
Quarter Final – Ightham 59/5 vs OD CUACO 120/3 – ODCUACO won by 61 runs
Quarter Final – LESSA Christ Church 52 All Out vs Broadstairs 53/0 – Broadstairs won by 6 wks
Quarter Final – University of Kent 35/0 vs Northdown 34/0 – University of Kent win by 6 wks.
Semi Final – Broadstairs 107/5 vs Wingham 41 All Out – Broadstairs won by 66 runs
Semi Final – ODCUACO 108/5 vs UKC 109/3 – UKC won by 3 wks
Final – Broadstairs 93/5 vs UKC 75 All Out – Broadstairs won by 18 runs

The final was closely fought between Broadstairs CC and the University of Kent, with the eventual winners being Broadstairs. In a repeat of last year’s final Broadstairs were out for revenge over UKC who won in 2023. Broadstairs posted 93 in their batting innings and University of Kent fell narrowly short finishing 75 all out. There were some key highlights in the game with UKCs Syan Bulathsinhala achieving 4 wickets for 8 runs. Tom Marshall and Harry Carter of Broadstairs scored 25 and 28 respectively. Only Luke Williams of UKC scored any noticeable runs in reply, hitting 25 before being dismissed.

Congratulations to Broadstairs who will now progress to the Regional Playoff of which they compete against the winners of the Surrey winners, on Sunday 18 February at The County Ground, Beckenham.
