Refugee Cricket & Culture Event

Kent Cricket Community Trust understands the passion for cricket the local Afghani community in Kent has.

Following on from the development of the projects run to support young people and families to access cricket, a Refugee Cricket and Culture event is taking place on Thursday 26 January from 18.00 – 19.30 at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence Canterbury (and via a Teams link) for cricket clubs and coaches who may be currently supporting local Afghani refugees or for clubs who may be welcoming local refugees.

Three speakers will be providing short presentations or talks around, language, culture and how cricket and the clubs can be fully accessible.

The organisations presenting include:

  • Kent Refugee Network
  • Kent County Council’s Specialist Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children Independent Reviewing Officer
  • KCC Foster Carers – voice of the young person accessing cricket

This will be followed by questions, networking, and refreshments.
