Town Malling Top the Development League for 2023

Thursday 14th September 2023

Town Malling have finished top of the Kent Women’s Development League for 2023, beating Sevenoaks Vine in a close finish on run rate, as they tied on points at the top.

The Kent Women’s Development League was set up in 2019 as an entry level women’s hardball league. Its purpose is to ensure a hardball offer, suitable and flexible for developing teams. The league is flexible to number of overs (20-40), number of players (8-11) and the day of the week it can be played. This allows clubs more leeway to get the game on, in a format that is suited to the players.

The league saw five new women’s teams this year as Sevenoaks Vine, High Halstow, Gravesend, Orpington and Cobham entered their hardball squads and competed well in their first season. Town Malling secured top spot on the last day of the season with their win against High Halstow, leap frogging Sevenoaks Vine into 1st on Net Run Rate and competing their double as they pick up the KWDL Shield and the Kent Slam Cup.
