Cowdrey and Harmison hit 50s, Dickson smashes ton in 2nd XI wins

Fabian Cowdrey and Ben Harmison hit half-centuries and Sean Dickson scored a century in two T20 wins for the second XI against MCC Young Cricketers.

Kent won the first match at High Wycombe thanks to 56 from Cowdrey, whose 35-ball innings included ten boundaries in a fine all-round display.

Alex Blake clubbed three fours and three sixs in 44 off 25 balls before Ben Harmison’s unbeaten 80 and Brendan Nash’s 18 not out helped the visitors reach 223-4.

In reply, Matt Hunn took 4-20 and Cowdrey claimed 3-31.

Hugh Bernard and Adam Riley claimed a wicket each either side of a Nash run-out.

In the second match, Kent’s top three all scored at two runs a ball.

Sean Dickson smashed a fantastic 108 off 51 balls including nine fours and nine sixes alongside an equally attacking knock from Alex Blake after Fabian Cowdrey scored 10 off 5 balls.

The 26-year-old bludgeoned five fours and three sixes in a 20-ball 42 before the MCC YC attack picked up regular wickets but could not stop Kent reaching 221 for seven.

Second time round, it was the spinners that prospered with wickets for Imran Qayyum (3-24), Adam Riley (3-25) and Fabian Cowdrey (2-28).

Matt Hunn took the other wicket.
