Darren Stevens to play in Dhaka Premier League
Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens is set to play for Kalabagan Cricket Academy in the last three rounds of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League.
The 38-year-oldhad a successful spell in the Bangladesh Premier League in 2012, winning the tournament with the Dhaka Gladiators and returned to play for the club the following year, retaining the title.
Stevens said:“I have come to play three one-day games for Kalabagan Cricket Academy. I tried to come a month ago but my NOC [No Objection Certificate] didn’t get cleared. Now it has been cleared by the ECB.
“The BPL was a great experience, we won both times. In the second year unfortunately there was a little bit of controversy with match-fixing and things like that. But it had nothing to do with me. I have got cleared of it all now, so I am really pleased to be back here and happy to be playing three games of cricket.”
Kalabagan finished sixth in the 12-team Premier Division regular season which was reduced to a six-strong Super League earlier this month.
Fellow Kent batsman Joe Denly played in the same competition, playing seven matches for eight-placed Brothers Union who failed to qualify for the latter stages.
Stevens has also played for the Auckland Aces in the New Zealand T20 series and was named the Natwest T20 Blast MVP in 2014.
