Derbyshire v Kent: Haggett and Hunn take 3 each in fightback

Calum Haggett and Matt Hunn took three wickets apiece as Kent fought back to dismiss Derbyshire on day one of the LV= County Championship at the 3aaa County Ground.

Kent also suffered an injury scare as 'keeper Sam Billings left the field with a dislocated finger and England Under-19 gloveman Ryan Davies was drafted in after Daniel Bell-Drummond donned the gloves in the meantime.

Billy Godleman's eighth first-class ton put Derbyshire on top before his departure triggered the loss of eight wickets for 75 runs as Kent's young seam attack hit back.

Godleman added 93 for the first wicket with opener Ben Slater before Hunn bowled Slater, the first of the 21-year-old's three wickets.

He bowled with pace and bounce, hitting Derbyshire all-rounder Shiv Thakor on the helmet who was forced to retire hurt.

Hunn and Ivan Thomas took the new ball before Haggett, 24, hit his straps to remove Chesney Hughes and Godleman, both snaffled at second slip by James Tredwell.

Hunn then took two scalps in quick succession: taking the prized wicket of skipper Wayne Madsen, before finding the edge and the grateful hands of Tredwell once again in the cordon.

In trademark style, the England international spinner stemmed the flow of runs at one end with a tidy 24-over spell rewarded with the wicket Harry Hosein, caught by Thomas, who took the wickets of Matt Critchley and Tony Palladino with the score on 230.

Calum Haggett rounded off the comeback as he found Ben Cotton's outside edge and the gloves of teen wicketkeeper Ryan Davies.

In reply, openers Daniel Bell-Drummond and Rob Key saw off 11 tricky overs as Kent ended the day on 27 without loss.
