Extra Cover ñ October 2010

Thursday 21st October 2010

More than a month has passed since the end of last season and the club is undergoing plenty of changes with the St Lawrence Ground redevelopment project firmly underway and plenty more going on besides.

Below, you will find a rundown of key information in the club“s new newsletter; Extra Cover, which will be available online. The new e-newsletter is being produced to keep members and supporters fully up-to-speed with all things Kent Cricket. If you would like to subscribe to the new model then please email communications.kent@ecb.co.uk. Please note: If you are a Kent member then we will automatically send out to you, once the new e-distribution service is developed.

Players report back for winter training
Some of the players are back in winter training with strength and conditioning coach Pete Kelly. The club“s team director, Paul Farbrace, has called on the players to be fitter in 2011. You can read the whole story by clicking here.

New website on the horizon
The club is currently working hard on the planning of a new and improved website. It will offer greater interactivity, more player information, a more efficient club shop and ticketing capability as well as regular audio and video highlights.
If you would like to offer ideas/comments/suggestions on what you would like to see within the new site then please email communications.kent@ecb.co.uk.

Redevelopment project progressing nicely
At the end of last month, Kent captain Rob Key cut the all-important first sod of the club“s ground redevelopment programme and it“s been all go ever since. New retractable floodlights, a two-storey dressing room block, pristine members“ facilities in a refurbished pavilion and a new club shop are the initial stages of this winter“s St Lawrence refurbishment scheme. You can read an interview with Project Director Mike Hill by clicking here.

Keep up-to-date 24-7 with our new webcam
The new website, being launched shortly, will have a webcam to enable the keenest of Kent supporters to keep fully informed. The redevelopment project is in full swing and there will be the opportunity to watch how things progress as soon as the new website is launched. It is anticipated that this will be before Christmas.

Membership details coming soon as ECB confirm no changes to the 2011 programme
Plans to reduce the amount of domestic cricket played on the county circuit by eight to 12 days have been delayed until 2012 after the ECB structure group decided against the proposed changes. Now the decision has been reached, it means the club can go live with our new membership offering. Current members will receive information by mid to late November.

Buy your tickets and support your club
Tickets are on sale for some of our upcoming events. The club has devised a diverse range of activities, which will hopefully appeal to all.

Tickets are selling well for the Film & Fireworks Extravaganza. After the successes of last year“s event, the club has decided to enhance its offering in 2010. Alongside the fireworks, there will also be the opportunity to watch Ghostbusters the Movie! Click here to book your tickets.

Numbers needed for the Kent Quiz
The club is calling on members and supporters to back the upcoming quiz series that we have planned, starting at the end of this month. The Kent Cricket Quiz Challenge will only go ahead if we get sufficient numbers so please add your name to the list by clicking here.

Limited places left for The Ashes Dinner
If you haven“t booked your place yet for The Ashes Dinner then you are strongly advised to do so. After a sell-out at the 1970s dinner, the club has received more great support for our evening with Robert Key, Derek Underwood and Geraint Jones on Wednesday, 24th November. Limited tickets are still available on a first-come-first-served basis. Click here to book yours.

Calling all Kent Members
The Annual Members“ Carvery will take place on Monday, 6 December. Come along on the day and have a look at the changes that have taken place since the end of last season. You can then ask you redevelopment questions to the club“s Chief Executive Officer, Jamie Clifford, who will be answering any questions in his role of guest speaker.

Have we got your details?
If you don“t currently receive regular mailings from the club, but would like to, please email communications.kent@ecb.co.uk and we will add you to our e-distribution list. There are lots of things to look forward to in the coming months including 2011 membership, our new and exciting Kent Lottery plus a bricks promotion and legends walkway.

Be a part of the exciting times ahead at Kent Cricket and support your club in the process! Please continue to show your support and keep visiting the club“s website for the news as it happens.
