Gibbs joins Oval Invincibles for The Hundred

Kent Women all-rounder Grace Gibbs has been announced as a domestic player signing for Oval Invincibles ahead of the first edition of The Hundred this Summer.

Her move alongside other stars of the domestic women’s game signals the end of the second phase of the player selection process in The Hundred Women’s Competition.

Phase three, throughout June, will see the eight teams finalise their 15-strong squads.

Gibbs was a part of the Kent Women side that won the South East group of this year’s Vitality Women’s County T20 tournament, also recording new joint Club record T20 bowling figures against Essex Women.

Her 5/11 equalled that of Adam Milne, who achieved the same numbers for the Kent Spitfires against Somerset in 2017.

On joining Oval Invincibles, Gibbs said: “I can’t wait to be part of the Oval Invincibles set-up.

“The opening game is such a huge moment for the women’s game and I’ll be doing everything I can to impress Jon Batty and try and get into the first XI.

“It’s really rewarding knowing I’ve had to work so hard to come back from a serious knee injury and it’s going to be really special to take to the field in such a big competition.”

The Hundred starts on 21 July, with Oval Invincibles hosting Manchester Originals in an historic standalone women’s match.
