Kent“s second team go into the third day of their Championship match against Gloucestershire at Beckenham with a slender lead of two. A ton from Andrew Smith (111) and half centuries by James Goodman (pictured, 88) and Rob Ferley (57) moved the home side into the lead.

On the opening day, James Day took 3-77 and Goodman returned figures of 2-51 as Gloucestershire declared their first innings on 362-6.
