Griffiths provides Community Team update

Ahead of a 2021 season, the Club’s Director of Partnerships, Andy Griffiths, has provided a short update on the Community Team at Kent Cricket.

“My role became broader in October last year when I was appointed Director of Partnerships.

“I became responsible for developing our partnerships with all key stakeholders across Kent from commercial businesses to local authorities. By taking a broader view, I intend to open up new funding opportunities for Kent Cricket at every level of the game; from the professional game to the recreational game in Kent known as Community Cricket, and more widely through the growth of our charitable arm, the Kent Cricket Community Trust.

“Since October, James Moss has served as interim Head of Community Cricket and ensured that we have maintained momentum through the winter and as we prepare for the new season.  James Moss has done an exceptional job and is absolutely capable of leading the team in the long term.

“However, through the interim period, James always made it clear that he wanted to continue as a managing areas of the game that he is passionate about, and I completely respect his decision to do so.

“Therefore, it has always been the plan to recruit a suitable permanent candidate from within the current team here – we have a clear desire to develop our own staff, and give them opportunities to step up to new roles when offered.

“Following a thorough selection process, the successful candidate was James Reid. He takes up the role with immediate effect and will work with James Moss on a handover in the coming days and weeks. He will report directly into me and lead the Community Cricket Team both strategically and operationally on a day-to-day basis.

“James Reid will bring with him a wealth of experience and knowledge from previous employment in the hospitality and recruitment sector, and more recently five years of cricket development experience to the role.

“He is well versed in process, policy, and budgetary demands; and has excellent communication skills. He is highly thought of by everyone at Kent Cricket.

“Finally, following the appointment and discussions with the team, I have taken the opportunity to review job titles within the department, and have made changes accordingly.

“The more senior team members were Officers in title, but will now take on their roles as Managers, which more accurately reflects their current roles and responsibilities.

“We can now embark upon the coming months with optimism, energy and enthusiasm. I would like to thank the Community Cricket team for their outstanding efforts to support Kent Cricket to date and for the commitment they have demonstrated during this challenging period.

“The senior management of the Community Team is as follows:

  • James Reid – Head of Community Cricket
  • James Moss – Community Cricket Manager
  • Helen Fagg – Community Cricket Manager (Women’s and Girls’)
  • Adam Hodder – Community Programmes Manager
  • Matt Fagg – Community Cricket Manager

“As I mentioned before, we are all excited by the prospect of building on the strong foundations and driving the further growth of recreational cricket across Kent, whilst we also help look for the Kent stars of tomorrow.

“The prospect of having a full recreational and professional season with crowds is so exciting, and we cannot wait to welcome people back to The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence; The County Ground, Beckenham; and community clubs across the county this Summer.”
