Ground Redevelopment and Match Day Operations Update

Thursday 28th April 2011

Thank you to all our members and supporters for your patience whilst we conclude this phase of the redevelopment project. It would be great to have concluded the works, but given the number of areas we are working on this was never going to be possible. The first Championship has gone well and we look forward to welcoming more people to the ground over the coming weeks for their first look at progress so far.

Floodlights

The floodlights are now all in position and have been put to full height once. Over the next two weeks work will be undertaken to ensure that they are working electrically and then that the lamps are properly aimed. The first use will be a trial for the University fixture on 13 May.

Les Ames Stand and Chiesman Pavilion

Work on the Les Ames stand and Chiesman Pavilion continues as planned and it is expected that this building will be operational from the 18 June (the first floodlight fixture in the t20).

Cornwallis and Harris Rooms

The Cowdrey building is now up and running and many supporters have enjoyed the new facilities this week. Huddled in there – out of the cold – on Thursday afternoon it was the place to be! We also held our first stakeholder day on Wednesday which went extremely well in the Harris Room. Do go and have a look at the difference. The Cornwallis is available to non-members until the Les Ames stand is complete.

Concessions Van

We welcome back to the ground GB Caterers. They ran the vans in 2003 for the Club and it is great to see Graham and his team back with us. Do go and say hello and welcome them back (Graham usually answer s to the name of Curly!)

Dust

Thos who have been at the ground this week will know we have had some challenges with dust blow across the St Lawrence. We have been making efforts to reduce this by watering areas of the ground where the dust has collected. As we warned before the game keeping the seats clean has been difficult – we continue to urge you to bring something to wipe your seat dow, as no sooner than we have cleaned seats they are covered again.

Pavilion – Player’s areas

The players’ dressing rooms are now complete and as you can see from the photo above they now have some tremendous facilities. We will offer a tour of these facilities to supporters during the course of the season.

Car Parking – St Lawrence Ground

Car Parking on the ground is currently limited. There are significant areas that are under repair – the new banks will take some time to become established. During this time there will be no on ground parking other than blue badge holders and those who have purchased pre paid parking.

Car Parking – Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School

There is parking on match days available at Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School, and whilst it feels like you are driving a long way from the ground to get there, the walk through to the St Lawrence is actually quite short. In addition we are running a shuttle service to and from the car park. If you ask a steward they will be able to advise on the next available lift.

Getting around the ground

On day one of the Championship fixture against Gloucestershire we were not able to permit foot traffic through the front of the pavilion area. This is now possible and allows members and ticket package holders’ free access through this area.

We are desperate to get things right for you. If you have any comments or suggestion on how we can improve things during this period, please do not hesitate to let us know.
