Kent will go into the new season this week on the back of a great showing against Glamorgan at Canterbury.

New signing, Ben Harmison smashed an unbeaten 130 in the two-day game that finished on Thursday afternoon with overseas signing Brendan Nash (74) joining him in a third wicket stand of 150 as Kent amassed 312 for 5 in reply to Glamorgan’s 263.

Glamorgan skipper Mark Wallace had hit 103 on Wednesday as Kent’s bowlers got a decent workout in the warm sunshine, which served as ideal preparation this week’s championship opener against Yorkshire at Headingley.

Kent’s Head Coach Jimmy Adams watched on as his side stepped up their fitness levels ahead of a gruelling six months ahead. The opening innings from Harmison will give him food for thought –the former Durham batsman could now be the man to partner Rob Key at the top of the order.

Adams will have to decide which bowlers to select, having confirmed Mark Davies’ signing from Durham, adding competition for places at Kent. The full squad will be announced here on the Kent Cricket website later this week.
