Jones provides expert coaching at ESM Cricket Academy

Kent Cricket’s Geraint Jones visited Wycombe based ESM Cricket Academy (ESMCA) earlier this month, where he held an expert coaching session for over 50 young cricketers.

The session was organised by the ESM Cricket Academy, which has been committed to developing cricket at grass roots level since 2006. At a similar event last year, Kent captain, Rob Key gave expert advice to young cricketers and helped them develop their batting skills.

Geraint Jones was accompanied by his former Kent team mate, left-arm spin bowler, Min Patel, who also gave an inspirational session on the art of spin bowling.

Rowen Pestana, an assistant at the ESM Cricket Academy commented; “It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to watch cricket stars demonstrate the art of spin and wicket keeping at a top level”.

Matthew Jackson, whose sons Billy and Tom took part in the session, added; “Geraint Jones was brilliant – telling the boys when wicket keeping to be close enough to smell the ball, and when batting to never take your eye off the ball until it reaches the bat”.

This is just one of a number of community initiatives the Kent Cricket squad will be involved with this year.
