Denly, who recently has recently returned to the Kent side, having suffered a broken thumb earlier in the season, increased on his season best of 85, making 143. He put on century partnerships of 198 with Rob Key (91) and Sam Northeast (140). The innings also saw significant contributions from the captain Rob Key with 91 and Sam Northeast who fell for 99 to Andrew McDonald from the penultimate ball of the day, leaving Kent on 376-3.
