Kent County Cricket Club Annual General Meeting 2013

On Monday 22nd April, Kent Cricket’s AGM took place in the JM Recruitment Harris Room at the St Lawrence Ground. Below is a summary of some key points.

General Committee Election

The results of the General Committee election are as follows:

  • Mark Baker White – 393
  • Paul Box-Grainger – 200
  • Graham Holland – 201
  • Ben Moorhead – 343
  • John Shepherd – 498

Mark Baker White, Ben Moorhead and John Shepherd are therefore elected, and join the General Committee for three years.

Derek Barnard also joins the General Committee, as a co-opted member and nominee of Kent County Cricket Suporters’ Club.

General Committee Report

The General Committee Report was presented by Kent Cricket CEO, Jamie Clifford. This included the financial update, news on the Beckenham Ground and results of the Member and Supporter Satisfaction Survey.

Jamie Clifford confirmed that work continues on the planning to transform the Beckenham Ground into a modern, high quality training facility, which will serve the purpose of bringing through the next generation of cricketers.

The Member and Supporter satisfaction survey results demonstrate that satisfaction levels have increased significantly over the last three years at Kent Cricket, with the majority now rating the standard of customer service as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’.

It was announced that the Club is currently negotiating naming rights for the St Lawrence Ground. Confirmation was given that any proposed name would include ‘St Lawrence.’

The appointment of Auditors for 2012/13

Reeves & Co. were appointed Auditors for the year ahead.

Introducing the President for 2013

Bob “the cat” Bevan was introduced as Kent Cricket President for 2013. Bob presented a moving tribute to his good friend, Mike Denness and spoke of his excitement and surprise at being elected President for 2013. His engaging introduction included amusing anecdotes on his time spent enjoying cricket with Mike, and all that he hoped to bring to the role of President during the 2013 season.

Playing performance in 2012 and prospects for 2013

Graham Johnson presented details of performance and prospects for 2013, emphasising that the future size and quality of the squad is dependent on changing the Club business model.

He also emphasised the number of England qualified players who have come through the Kent system in recent years, and expressed his delight that the 2nd XI team won the County Championship.

General Committee

Immediately following the AGM, a General Committee meeting was held. During this meeting, Richard Collins was elected to the position of Deputy Chairman.
