Kent County Cricket Club today confirmed the signing of 32 year-old left-arm Australian fast bowler, Doug Bollinger, as an overseasplayer for the whole of the 2014 season.

Bollinger will be available for all forms of cricket.

This exciting signing for the Club is a sign of real intent from the County as they aim for on field success in 2014. The Australian has enjoyed a fruitful season with New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield, taking 21 wickets at an average of 25.47 so far, and was on stand-by throughout the recent Ashes series.

Between early 2009 and December 2010, Bollinger took 50 wickets at an average of 25.92 in 12 Test appearances, and his good form and pace during 2013 to 2014 resulted in him rejoining the Australian squad.

Doug Bollinger commented; “I am very excited about the opportunity to play with Kent. I feel I am bowling as well as I ever have, and look forward to being able to contribute both on and off the field. I have had quite a few chats with Jimmy Adams and can’t wait to get over there and rip in."

Kent Cricket Head Coach, Jimmy Adams commented on the announcement; “We are all excited and pleased to have Doug coming to Kent for the 2014 season. Doug is an extremely talented player who is bringing a wealth of experience, having performed successfully at all levels and across all formats. We are confident he will make a positive contribution to Kent Cricket in the season ahead.”

Kent’s 2014 LV= County Championship campaign gets under way on Sunday 13th April against Worcestershire at New Road, the Club where Bollinger spent the 2007 season. Kent’s first home Championship fixture is on Sunday 20th April against Leicestershire at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.
