Kent Cricket Heritage Trust Formed

Kent County Cricket Club has announced the formation of a Kent Cricket Heritage Trust, to establish a centre of excellence for the study, research and promotion of cricket, and take an active involvement in maintaining and displaying archive and artefacts.

An application to the Charity Commission to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation has now been approved and the Trust has the Registered Charity Number 1154556.

The newly formed Kent Cricket Heritage Trust will concentrate resources on four main areas:

1. The maintenance and development of the Kent County Cricket Club collection

2. The development of a research facility into Kent Cricket history

3. The development of activities and newsletters for members of the Trust

4. Establishing relationships with other cricket clubs and institutions, and with other heritage groups within the county who may not be specifically concerned with cricket.

Chris Cowdrey, who is to be President of the Kent Cricket Heritage Trust, said; “I am very pleased that the Trust is now fully established and has been given charitable status. I am honoured to be its first President.”

The Chairman of the Trust is Jonathan Rice, and Trustees are Kent Cricket Honorary Curator David Robertson, Kent Cricket CEO Jamie Clifford, and Kent Cricket Statistician Howard Milton. The Trustees are supported by a Management Committee and are keen to hear from supporters wishing to volunteer their services to support the Trust’s activities.

The Trust is currently developing a business plan, and looking into budgets and fundraising to support objectives. Full plans for the next year are being developed and we will keep you informed of our activities.

There has been a very positive response since our Canterbury Week exhibition and leaflet, and we already have a good list of those wishing to become involved with the Trust.

To become a member of the Trust there will be an annual subscription of £10. Full details of how to join will be posted on this website very shortly.
