Kent Cricket search for supporters’ favourite Summer Anthems

Kent Spitfires' supporters to submit songs ahead of new NatWest T20 Blast season

Kent County Cricket Club has launched a search for supporters' favourite summer songs as part of the England & Wales Cricket Board’s nationwide search to create cricket’s soundtrack to the summer.

With a majority of fixtures in the new NatWest T20 Blast season taking place on Friday nights throughout the summer, the ECB and Kent Cricket are searching for a playlist that best represents the summer for supporters and reflects the atmosphere that will be experienced during the 133 fixtures in an action-packed season.

You have until Friday 11th April to submit your favourite summer tunes to our Facebook and Twitter accounts, and the Kent Spitfires will select the most popular song to represent supporters in an 18 song shortlist.

Kent Spitfires supporters will then go head-to-head against other counties to vote for their favourite tunes, with the top ten making up the NatWest T20 Blast Summer Anthems playlist and being played at games throughout the season.

The new NatWest T20 Blast competition kicks off on Friday 16th May, taking place over 11 weeks with a majority of fixtures being played on Friday nights. The re-launched format of T20 will offer fast-paced cricket with fours smashed, sixes launched and wickets cart wheeling – all packed into three hours.

Cricket lovers can submit their song choice through Kent Cricket's social media channels from Friday 4th to Friday 11th April with a final shortlist of 18 songs being announced on Monday 14th April. Following a period of voting, the final NatWest T20 Blast Summer Anthems Playlist will be announced ahead of the start of the NatWest T20 Blast season on Wednesday 30th April.

David Collier, ECB Chief Executive, said: “Our search for the NatWest T20 Blast Summer Anthems playlist was inspired by our desire to find a set of songs that encapsulates the summer for cricket supporters. With 70% of fixtures in the new season taking place on a Friday night, we wanted to find a playlist that would represent this and T20’s brand of exciting cricket.

“NatWest T20 Blast will have something for everyone and the new season is set to offer cricket supporters, groups of friends and families alike a unique experience, ensuring everyone can watch an exciting style of cricket with an electric atmosphere.”
