Kent cricketers draw football friendly

Honours were even as cricketers played footballers at their own game at the home of Folkestone Invicta on Sunday.

Players past and present turned out for the John Tredwell memorial match, in honour of Kent spinner James’ father.

Several hundred spectators turned out to raise funds and awareness for James Tredwell’s testimonial and charities (PCA Benevolent Fund and Crohn’s & Colitis UK).

All-rounder Darren Stevens and former Kent seamer David Masters each netted twice in an entertaining 5-5 draw at Cheriton Road.

Tredwell’s team also included skipper Sam Northeast, former Kent and England wicketkeeper Geraint Jones and featured cameos from Maidstone assistant manager Nicky Southall and former Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler.
