Kent Cricket’s Fireworks Extravaganza hailed a ‘huge success’

A bumper crowd of over3,000 enjoyed a spectacular night of fireworks and entertainment at the St Lawrence Ground on Friday. The Fireworks Extravaganza, in association with Blean Village Londis has beenhailed a 'huge success' by organisers.

There were live performances on the cricket outfield from local musician James Kirby, and dazzling duo the Absolute ABBA Girls. Da Vinci Dance Troupe's street dance performances werealso a firm favourite with families at the event.

Fairground rides and free face painting also proved popular in the lead up to the spectacular fireworks display. The Club’s annual fancy dress competition sawa bulk of entries, with Victa the horse, the Club’s official mascot assisting the judging panel. The winners (pictured) were: 1st – Anthony Symes, aged six (pirate), 2nd – Nathan Adcock, ages four (skeleton) and 3rd – Anuska Patel, aged four (pirate).

A range of food and beverage options were available throughout the evening, with many choosing to dine in the Club’s Harris Room and boxes in the Les Ames Stand, which also provided anexcellent viewof the entertainment and fireworks.

Kent Cricket CEO, Jamie Clifford commented on the Fireworks Extravaganza; “It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying this year’s event, with lots to do in the lead up to the display itself, with the fairground rides and dance displays. I would like to thank Blean Village Londis for their involvement in this year’s event – the biggest and best fireworks we have ever hosted at the St Lawrence Ground. We have our work cut out, but we are already making plans for an even bigger and better Fireworks Extravaganza in 2012.”
