Kent name squad ahead of Friday night’s FLt20 match at Hove

Kent have named a 13 man squad ahead of their Friends Life t20 match against Sussex Sharks at the Probiz County Ground at Hove on Friday.

Rob Key is set to return to the Spitfires squad for tomorrow night's cricial match, having missed Tuesday's fixture against Middlesex Panthers due to a neck injury. Simon Cook also joins the squad for this match in place of Fabian Cowdrey, with the remainder of the squad unchanged.

The Kent Spitfires need to return to winning ways quickly, following two consecutive Friends Life t20 defeats, if they are to keep their south division qualification hopes alive. The trip to the south coast on Friday, to take on the group leaders – Sussex Sharks, won’t be an easy one but a win is crucial for Kent.

Spitfires currently sit fourth in the table, having taken five points from six games. With four games to play it looks as though a maximum haul could be required if they are to progress to the quarter-finals. The Sharks, on the other hand are unbeaten and top the south group with eight points – two ahead of the Essex Eagles, going into tonight’s game at Chelmsford.

Geraint Jones, who captained the Spitfires on Tuesday in Key's absence commented ahead of Friday's match; “They’re undefeated and on top of the table and they’ve been playing well, but we generally have good games down there and the good thing is we have a bit of time to prepare.

“That’s a good thing and I think we should have learnt a lot from the last two defeats. The Sussex wicket probably won’t be disimilar to the Canterbury one, so the bowlers should be prepared for that and I’m happy with the way the boys are batting."
