The Women & Girls’ Cricket Pathway in Kent has now been updated to reflect the recent changes across the ever-evolving female game.

From a performance perspective, the ECB’s goal to improve the standard of women’s cricket across the board and prepare potential England players for the step up to the international stage, resulted in the release of a new national performance pathway, which includes eight new regional centres.

This new structure is all about development within the pathway, combined with the performance elements of giving more players all-round opportunity to specialist coaching, science and medicine support and a skill and fitness emphasis (which the centrally-contracted England Women’s players have had over the past five or six years).

Alongside this, we have seen changes in the participation pathway, as Women’s Softball Cricket Festivals have proved popular and the embryonic Kent Women’s Development Hardball League continues to be an important stepping stone for female club players looking for development in a competitive, yet supportive, hardball environment.

At the very foundation we continue to have the Chance to Shine Schools Programme delivering to girls and boys across the county.

In addition, we have the ECB Core Programmes of All Stars and Dynamos, again open to all boys and girls of the relevant age and the competitive offer of the Mini Super 8’s.

As the girls progress, we are also starting to see an increase in the number of girl’s club teams at the U11, 13 and 15 age groups for which a suitable league or festival offer will soon be available from the County.

The pathway visual outlines the many opportunities for female cricket at any age across Kent. If you have any queries on how to get involved or about any aspect of getting involved in cricket, please contact helen.fagg@kentcricket.co.uk
