Kent Spitfires look to build on good start to Royal London One-Day Cup

Fresh from a hard fought victory over Durham, last night at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, the Kent Spitfires head for Taunton and their third clash of the season with Somerset.

Kent overcame a shaking mid innings to recover from 154 for the loss of 6 wickets, with a target of 272, to post a 2 wicket victory. Late, fast, contributions by Sam Billings, 64, Calum Haggett, 36, and James Tredwell, 38 not out, proved vital in what was a total team victory.

Head Coach Jimmy Adams is staying with the same 14 man squad he named to face Durham noting that, ‘the lads put in a good, team performance, one that we aim to build on as this new competition gets underway. We have managed to beat Somerset a couple of times in NatWest T20 Blast but this is a new competition, new format so we need to be at our best.’

Since 1967 Kent have played Somerset 63 times in the limited over, List A, format. The playing record demonstrates how competitive these matches have been, Kent having won 32 to Somerset’s 30, with one tie.

The match begins 10.30am, Thursday 31 July, at The County Ground, Taunton.
