Thursday 18th August 2011

Men’s First Team

Tour Match

Kent Cricket are preparing for one of the biggest cricket matches of the year. On Friday 26th August, the St Lawrence Ground will host a match between Kent Spitfires and world champion’s, India. The 50 over match, which will start at 2.30pm and continue into the evening under floodlights, is set to be a sell-out.

New permanent floodlights and improved Club and supporter facilities at the St Lawrence mean that visitors can take advantage of the ground redevelopments whilst enjoying the match. Adding to the atmosphere will be a range of entertainment from 2pm, including traditional Indian Bhangra dancers and drummers – Jugnu Bhangra, and a range of British music and dance.

Indian food will be available for sale at the ground, along with the usual food options from a variety of food outlets, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options to choose from. The public bar and Jonesy’s Kitchen in the Les Ames Stand will also be open to all spectators, where food will be available.

Spectators are welcome to bring picnics to the ground, with plastic utensils, but should be aware that space may be limited. Please note that spectators may not bring alcohol into the ground for this match, in line with ECB requirements for tour matches.

Tickets for the match are selling well, with the covered Frank Woolley Stand already sold out. Ground entry tickets are available, which allow access to terrace seating and banks for standing or the use of personal folding chairs. Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £5.00 for children under 17, when pre-purchased from the Kent Cricket website; click here to book. Pre-purchase, print at home tickets do not incur a booking fee. Tickets can also be purchased by phoning Kent Cricket on 01227 456 886 and selecting option 1, or from the Kent Cricket Shop at the St Lawrence Ground.

Parking for this match will be at Simon Langton Girls School, costing £8.00 or the Old Dover Road Park and Ride (£2.50), which is a short distance away. There is no parking on site at the St Lawrence Ground.

Security will be stringent for this match and spectators should expect to have their bags searched as they enter the ground. Please be patient; you will gain entry to the ground quicker if you do not bring large bags with you. Gates open at 12.30pm.
