Kent stars selected for The Hundred

Kent stars Kalea Moore, Grace Scrivens, Jordan Cox and Fred Klaassen have earned picks to take part in the first edition of The Hundred this Summer.

New Zealand fast bowler and Spitfires Vitality Blast overseas star Adam Milne has also been selected by Birmingham Phoenix.

Moore and Scrivens were selected by Northern Superchargers and London Spirit respectively, whilst Cox and Klaassen were selected by Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals as Wildcard picks.

Greenwich-born Moore made her Kent Women T20 debut in 2019 and has gone on to take 13 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 19.38, and was the Horses’ top wicket taker in the Vitality County Women’s T20 campaign, which the Horses won the South East Group.

The off-spinner also took 2-20 on her South East Stars debut, playing in the Charlotte Edwards Cup T20 competition against Lightning.

17-year-old Grace Scrivens has played 15 T20 matches for Kent Women since making her debut in 2018, and has scored 249 runs at 31.12, including 94 not out against Surrey this season.

She was handed the ball for the first time in the 2021 Women’s County T20, and has four wickets in three innings at an average of just 8.00. She also scored 34 not out and took 1-16 in her Charlotte Edwards Cup debut for Sunrisers this year.

Kent Academy product Jordan Cox has made a name for himself over the past three seasons as a dynamic ‘keeper-batter and outfielder, and has been selected by Oval Invincibles, where Kent Head Coach Matt Walker is also Assistant Coach.

The right-hander has played 24 T20 matches in his career to-date, scoring 372 runs with a strike rate of 119.23. He has also taken a combined 16 catches with and without the gloves, as well as four stumpings.

Netherlands international Fred Klaassen has played 56 career T20 matches to date, including 21 IT20s, taking 58 wickets at a bowling strike rate of 19.50.

The left-arm seamer’s career-best T20 figures of 4-32 came against Hampshire Hawks in this season’s Vitality Blast. Across the tournament this year, the 28-year-old has 11 wickets in nine matches to date at an average of 21.36.

Elsewhere, former Spitfires Faf du Plessis (Northern Superchargers) will be a Captain in The Hundred, with Carlos Brathwaite (Manchester Originals), Jimmy Neesham (Welsh Fire) and Wahab Riaz (Trent Rockets) also being selected as Overseas Players.
