Kent Women squad v Sussex and Middlesex in T20 on Sunday

Kent Women have named a 13-strong squad for a tough round of NatWest T20 matches at Arundel Castle on Sunday, writes Caitlyn Hobbs.

The reigning county champions are top of the table in the 50-over format and will take on hosts Sussex and Middlesex, aiming to go one better than the runners-up finish last season. Head coach Stuart Eddicott will rotate his squad as Kent aim for maximum points. Eddicott said: “If we can get through this round of games with two victories, this puts us in a great position to win the competition.”

With the Women's Ashes starting later this month, several players will be aiming to impress to win a place in the England squad for the series, comprised of three Royal London ODIs, the Kia Test at Canterbury and three NatWest IT20s.

Kent Women squad: Alice Davidson-Richards, Charlotte Edwards, Charlotte Pape, Deanna Cooper, Hannah Jelfs, Kara Sutherland, Laura Marsh, Lauren Griffiths, Lydia Greenway, Megan Belt, Phoebe Franklin, Tammy Beaumont, Tash Farrant.

Sussexare set to include 26-year-old England wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor, all-rounder Georgia Elwiss, England Under-19 batsman Izzy Collis and ex-England players Holly Colvin and Alexia Walker.

Their overseas player is Australian bowler Erin Osborne, a teammate of Kent overseas star Kara Sutherland.

Middlesexhave ex-England all-rounder Beth Morgan, 33, who has played seven Tests, 72 ODIs and 28 IT20s for England and came out of retirement to play again.

Among her teammates is BBC Radio commentator and Netherlands international bowler Izzy Westbury, who skippers the side which includes ex-England Academy all-rounder Natasha Miles and batsman Fran Wilson.

Australia take on Englandat The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrencein the only Women's Ashes Test Match as part of an extended Canterbury Week this summer.
