Kent Young Cricketers (KYC) Presentation day 2011

Kent Young Cricketers enjoyed a successful presentation day at the recent CB40 game v Derbyshire. Rob Key and John Shepherd (Kent Cricket President) were on hand to present the trophies during the interval to all the young players that won awards.

We are pleased to say that Kent Youth Cricket remains strong and it is fantastic to see young players such as Adam Ball, Daniel Bell Drummond and Adam Riley all who have recently progressed through the KYC system representing Kent 1stXl.

KYC Boys Cricket

Adam Ball and Daniel Bell Drummond who have progressed through the KYC system were selected for England U19s to play in the South African U19 series with Adam Ball infact captaining the England team through out the series

Both have represented Kent 1st X1 this year aswell as Adam Riley and Sam Billings again players who have been part of the KYC system

Marcus O’Riordan, a KYC U13 player was voted Gunn and Moores ‘Young Player of the Month’ in the Cricketer Magazine aswell as being named ‘player of the festival’ at both the U13 Taunton Festival and London Counties festival

The U13 team were winners of the London Counties U13 festival

Jack Laraman, Junaid Nadir and Piers Richardson were all selected to play for the South of England U15 team in the Bunburry Festival with Piers taking part a year young

A number of KYC U17 players have all represented Kent 2nd XI this season. These include Oli Robinson, Sam Weller and Shaun Piesley and I am sure that they have all benefited from the experience

KYC Girls Cricket

The senior women’s team are currently top of the county championship table and will soon be playing in the national 20:20 finals.

Charlotte Edwards, Lydia Greenway and Laura Marsh all remain key players within the England women’s’ set up, with Lydia Greenway voted Womens Cricketer of the year 2011

The U17 team runners up of the county age group ECB competition, which is a again a fantastic achievement having won it last year along with the 13s and 15s

Megan Belt and Hollie Summers were selected for the ECB Junior Super 2s Competition with Alice Davidson-Richards and Dee Tress selected for the ECB Junior Super 4s regional competition

Tamsin Beaumontand Susie Rowe who have both represented England and Deanna Cooper and are all members of the ECB Development Academy showing that women and girls cricket remains extremely strong in Kent
