Kuhn hits fluent 50 for Titans

Kent’s new signing Heino Kuhn top-scored with a fluent half-century for Titans in the final round of matches in the South African provincial first class competition.

The right-hander hit 13 fours and a six in an innings of 86 off 82 balls Titans after the first two days were washed out against Knights at Centurion Park.

Kuhn opened the batting and shared a stand of 71 with former Leicestershire and Lancashire batsman Andrea Agathangelou against a Knights attack that featured three former South African Test fast bowlers.

He reached his 47th first class half-century off 56 balls against an attack led by Merchant de Lange, Ryan McLaren and Duanne Olivier.

The former South African Test opener shared 50 stands with Heinrich Klaasen and Farhaan Behardien as the Titans looked to accelerate the scoring with both sides batting 40 overs per side in order to avoid stalemate in the remaining two days.

Titans declared on 269/3 in 40 overs in reply to Knights’ 169/7 before South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris struck twice in the first over of the second innings as the visitors reached stumps at 62 for three.
