Kent Cricket is delighted to announce that former Kent Women seamer Linda Newton has been awarded Women’s Cap number 56.

This comes after a lengthy and detailed investigation by the Club into Newton’s Kent career.

The bowler was not included amongst the original recipients & further highlights the difficulty in documenting the proud history of Kent Women, the most successful county in women’s cricket.

New evidence has been uncovered since the original capping of Kent Women stars past & present on the Club’s 150th Birthday in December 2020, & the Club is extremely pleased that Newton will now receive the recognition she deserves.

Primarily a bowler, Linda took 76-wickets in a nine-year career for Kent Women between 1974 & 1983.

Her best figures of 13-6-55-5 came against Holland in 1982 at The Spitfire Ground, St. Lawrence.

Newton now becomes Kent Cricket’s 56th Capped Women’s player, at a county that has won ten league championships & four T20 titles since the first recorded Kent Women match in 1935.

Tickets are now on sale for England vs. Sri Lanka in a Women’s One-Day International at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence in Canterbury this September:
