The hosts will be hoping for more of the same for Ben Compton – he has 377 Championship runs so far this season, averaging 62.83 with the bat. Zak Crawley has 281 at 41.00, & all-rounder Joey Evison’s 165 runs have come at an average of 33.00.

Five Kent bowlers have five or more wickets so far for the county in Division One this season – Grant Stewart has a bowling average of 17.80 & Wes Agar took 4-69 in the match last time out against Middlesex.

Opposition Report

Hampshire are currently 4th in the Division One table after two wins & two defeats.

They were defeated by Warwickshire by an innings & 84 runs last time out. In the first innings they were reduced for 35/9 after Chris Rushworth’s seven-fer & match figures of 10/76.

Captain James Vince, who scored an unbeaten 75 in the first innings, proved it was possible to survive & score runs including a 62-run last wicket stand with Mohammad Abbas. Vince also had a successful second innings, scoring 52 not out.

Mohammad Abbas match figures of 55/4, 29 overs 10 maidens, economy 1.86. He is also, remarkably, still yet to bowl a wide in County Championship cricket.


Team News

Men’s Head Coach Matt Walker has named a squad of 13 for the visit of Hampshire.

George Linde returns to the squad after arriving back from South Africa & playing some warm-up matches for the Second XI, with Australian Wes Agar set to make his third appearance of his four-match overseas stint.

Tawanda Muyeye is rewarded for his three centuries in three successive Second XI Championship appearances with a place in the Match Squad.
