Kent face Northamptonshire in the final LV= Insurance County Championship match before the start of the Vitality Blast at The County Ground, Northampton.

Both sides occupy eighth and ninth place in Division One of this season’s Championship, with both sides still searching for a first victory of the tournament.

Ben Compton averages 95.71 in Championship cricket this season, with 670 runs in nine innings. Jordan Cox has 348 runs at 43.50, and Daniel Bell-Drummond has scored 295 runs at 36.87.


Opposition Report

Eighth-placed Northamptonshire boast the batting form of Luke Procter, who has scored two centuries in six innings to date and has a tournament average of 118.66, as well as New Zealand International Will Young, who has scored 331 runs at 55.16.

With the ball, seamer Ben Sanderson has 18 Championship wickets at 20.05 so far, ably assisted by Gareth Berg (11 @ 31.63) and all-rounder Rob Keogh (10 @ 32.40).

Northamptonshire have one defeat and four draws to their name so far this season, leaving them on 54 points – 14 more than visitors Kent in ninth place.

Team News

Jack Leaning will captain a 13-strong side that travel to Northampton.

Grant Stewart returns after a hamstring injury ruled him out of Kent’s draw against Surrey, and Marcus O’Riordan is included for the first time since scoring his maiden first-class century against Sri Lanka Development XI at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.

Left-arm spinner James Logan travels with the squad, but Nathan Gilchrist is ruled out with a minor injury.

With the Vitality Blast beginning next week, Matt Milnes & Joe Denly have been rested for this fixture.

Harry Podmore has failed a fitness test due to an injury. Jas Singh has travelled to Northampton and replaces Podmore in our squad of 13.
