Kent return to the site of their 2022 One-Day Cup triumph as they face Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge in the LV= Insurance County Championship.

The Spitfires still sit 11 points better-off than Middlesex & in eighth position of Division One, after two wins & two draws already this season, despite defeat last time out against Essex at Chelmsford.

Ben Compton is currently Kent’s top Championship run-scorer so far this season – his 587 runs have come in ten matches & has been ably backed up by Daniel Bell-Drummond (490), Joey Evison (479) & Tawanda Muyeye (409).

Both Hamid Qadri & Matt Quinn have 15 wickets apiece in Division One, with Evison taking 14.

Nottinghamshire are one place & 16 points above Kent in Division One of the Championship with two wins & four draws so far in ten matches.

New Zealand batter Will Young will be making the final appearance of a three-match overseas stint with the county, & has 191 runs in four innings so far, averaging 63.66.

Top-order batter Joe Clarke is Notts’ top run-getter so far this season – his 663 runs include five scores of 50 or more. England opener Haseeb Hameed has 567 runs, & left-hander Ben Slater 410.

All-rounder Brett Hutton has 45 wickets so far this campaign. South Africa pacer Dane Paterson has 37, & Lyndon James 25.

Team News

Jack Leaning will continue to captain the side in red-ball cricket until the end of the season. As previously communicated, Sam Billings remains the Club Captain in Men’s cricket, but is taking time away from the game.

New loan signings Toby Albert & Ben Geddes are included in the travelling squad.

This will be Arshdeep Singh’s final appearance for Kent, with his overseas stint coming to an end after this fixture.

Daniel Bell-Drummond (hamstring), Jordan Cox (calf), Zak Crawley (England), Joe Denly (side), Nathan Gilchrist (leg), & Michael Hogan (failed fitness test) are all unavailable.

Marcus O’Riordan has also failed a fitness test on Monday morning due to his shoulder injury. He has been replaced by Alex Blake, with the terms of the left-hander’s white-ball deal renegotiated for this match so he can feature.

Grant Stewart will not play in this match due to international duty with Italy, as the Azzurri compete in the T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier in Scotland.
