Match Preview: Surrey vs. Kent

Kent travel to the Kia Oval to contest the latest duel in the oldest rivalry in world cricket against Surrey in the Bob Willis Trophy.

The visitors currently sit in third position in the Bob Willis Trophy South Group standings, after a draw in their most recent match against Middlesex at The Spitfire Ground, St. Lawrence.

Darren Stevens moved past 800 wickets in all formats on the way to his second five-wicket haul in as many Bob Willis Trophy matches, whilst Joe Denly scored 89 on his return to county cricket in a match that was affected by rain and ended in a draw on Day Four.

Surrey are currently bottom of the South Group after suffering defeat in all three of their matches in the tournament so far. ‘Keeper-batsman Jamie Smith is currently Surrey’s top-scorer with the bat in the Bob Willis trophy with 213 runs in three matches, whilst off-spinner Amar Virdi currently leads the way with the ball for the hosts after taking 14 wickets at 29.50 so far.

Jordan Cox returns to Kent’s travelling squad after a period of self-isolation, whilst Sam Billings and Joe Denly are unavailable due to their selection in England’s IT20 squad to face Pakistan.
