Match Preview: Yorkshire vs. Kent

The LV= Insurance County Championship continues with Kent’s trip to Leeds to face Yorkshire at Headingley Cricket Ground.

Ben Compton currently averages 116.00 in this year’s Championship after scoring 464 runs in five innings. Jordan Cox has scored 247 in his five innings, including a hundred at Essex in the first match of the season.

With the ball, Nathan Gilchrist (9) leads the way for Kent so far, with Hamid Qadri on six wickets to date.


Opposition Report

Yorkshire are currently fifth in Division One after a draw against Northamptonshire and a win against Gloucestershire in their first two matches.

Right-hander Harry Brook currently tops Yorkshire’s run-chart with 318 runs in four innings at an average of 159.00.

Both Brook and George Hill have centuries in the Championship, and Yorkshire will be able to call upon Sri Lanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne after the opening batter signed a short-term deal with the White Rose.

Pakistan international pacer Haris Rauf has nine wickets for Yorkshire to date, whilst Matthew Revis & Steven Patterson both have six apiece.

Team News

Jack Leaning is back fit again after recovering from a hamstring injury to lead Kent in a red-ball match for the first time this season.

South Africa International George Linde is also set to make his Kent debut at Headingley after also recovering from a groin injury.

Jackson Bird picked up a shoulder injury in Kent’s match against Hampshire last week, and will not be available for selection for Yorkshire whilst the extent of his injury is established.

Joe Denly (hamstring) & Sam Billings (IPL) remain unavailable.
