Kent all-rounder, Marcus O’Riordan, who has missed some of the season recovering from a shoulder operation, scored an excellent century, 106, from 103 deliveries, for the Second Eleven, in their six wicket victory, over Essex Seconds, in a 50 Over Friendly match, at the County Ground, Beckenham.

After bowling out Essex for 297, in 45.2 overs, Kent Seconds won the match with eight and a half overs to spare, 301 for 4 from 41.3. O’Riordan hit 10 fours, in his innings, and enjoyed a century opening partnership, with Daniel Bell-Drummond, returning to fitness, after a hamstring injury, who made 52, with eight boundaries and a six. Kent Club captain, Sam Billings, who has recently taken some time out from the game, returned to cricket action, scoring 75, which included three sixes and seven fours.

In the Essex innings, Charlie Allison scored 92, with four sixes and five fours, and Will Buttleman, 64. Two Kent trialists, took six wickets between them, George Garrett, formerly of Warwickshire, 3 for 45, Toby Greatwood, who previously played for Middlesex, 3 for 74.

There is no Second Eleven cricket played in the month of August, whilst the ECB’s Hundred competition takes place, alongside the 50 Over One Day Cup matches.

Kent Second Eleven have two matches left to play this season, both in the championship, and both away. They play Essex  Seconds, at Billericay, starting on Monday, September 4, and Lancashire Seconds, at Stanley Park, Blackpool, on Monday, September 18.
