Originally scheduled to be one one-day match, time constraints meant that it became two T20 matches, but with, uniquely, Kent wearing their sky blue One Day Cup kit.

The visitors, batting first made 134 for 6 from their 20 overs, Boris Gorlee, 40, Linde 2 for 23, Freddie Klaassen, a full Netherlands international, 2 for 18 against his fellow countrymen.

Kent reached 125 for 3 off 14 overs, Denly 48 not out, Linde 34 not out, in an unbroken stand of 83, when rain intervened and ended the action.

A second T20 match between the two sides was scheduled to follow, but had to be abandoned without a ball being bowled, as the rain persisted, much to the disappointment of the touring side whose team was made up of players from six Dutch cricket clubs. They are in England for a week and have a planned fixture with Northamptonshire.

Kent Second XI start their Second XI T20 competition on Tuesday next week, May 16, with a double header against Sussex Seconds, at Polo Farm, Canterbury. The first match starts at 11:300 and the second at 15:00. Entry is free.
